Since 1835. I am not kidding. This is the oldest business in Michigan. Andrew Jackson was President when the Old Tavern Inn opened in this tiny town. Not only is this a place worth finding because it opened during our 7th President (Lincoln was number 16), they also have very good food. Known for their goulash, fried chicken and burgers. I went and checked this place out over the weekend, and it didn't disappoint! Old world charm, and had a great conversation with the owner. She gave us the history based upon the locals, and it turns out that they "claim" the place is haunted. She has had many psychics come in and they all confirm it. I didn't believe any of it; however I must admit I was a bit spooked when I had to go to the bathroom after a few beers.
Truly a unique place with an amazing history. The place has been there for OVER 150 years. The food is your standard bar food BUT if you make the trip get the hot ham & cheese! Piled a mile a high on french bread, the sandwich was all that you could want.
If you do go make sure to see if you can chat with one of the owners. Sweet, older lady that has a lot of amazing stories to tell.
